Safety Standards for SOS Women and Child – Goa

SCAN-Goa is a voluntary organisation registered under the Societies Act, No. 684/Goa / 2013. SCAN -Goa works closely with Government departments on issues related to childrenand women.

SOS Women and Child – Goa is committed to providing a safe and supportive platform for children and women. This is the first mobile application of its kind in the State of Goa, developed by Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) Goa. SOS Women and Child – Goa has quick access to helplines, various authorities, laws, judgments, and safety tips for children and women operating within the State of Goa.

 

Core Principles:

• Zero Tolerance: We have a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Any content or activity that promotes, facilitates, or depicts CSAE will be immediately removed, and the relevant authorities will be notified.
• User Reporting: We provide easy-to-use mechanisms for users to report inappropriate content or behaviour. All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly.
• Collaboration with Authorities: We work closely with law enforcement and child protection agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children and women.
• Transparency: We are transparent about our safety policies and procedures, making them readily available to all users.

 

Other Measures:

1. Content Monitoring:
   
   • As information is uploaded by Team SCAN – Goa themselves, all content is screened for harmful material prior to being uploaded on the app.
2. User Verification:
   
   • We encourage users to verify their identity to enhance accountability and prevent malicious activity.
3. Reporting Mechanisms:
   
   • A clear and accessible “Feedback” button is available on the app.
   • Reports can be made anonymously if preferred.
4. Specific Safety Measures
   
   • The app provides access to information on child safety, women’s rights, and available support services.
   • Safety tips and guidelines are regularly updated to reflect the latest best practices.
5. Helpline Access:
   
   • Quick access to emergency helplines is prominently displayed within the app.
   • Direct contact information for various authorities and support organizations is readily available.
6. Legal Information:
   
   • The app provides access to relevant laws, judgments, and legal resources onchild and women’s safety.
